This Privacy Policy describes how Shaxi Mobility (“Shaxi,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, processes, and discloses your information in connection with your access to and use of the Shaxi mobile application (the “App”) and related services (collectively, the “Service”). We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your data in a transparent and secure manner.
By accessing or using the Service, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with this Privacy Policy, you may not access or use the Service.
1. Information We Collect
We collect various types of information to provide and improve our Service. This information can be broadly categorized as follows:
1.1 Information You Provide to Us
We collect information that you directly provide to us when you create an account, use the Service, or communicate with us. This includes:
- Account Information: When you register for a Shaxi account, we collect your name, phone number, email address, and payment information (e.g., credit card details or other accepted digital payment methods). We may also collect your date of birth and profile picture.
- Ride Information: When you request or provide a ride, we collect details related to the ride, including pickup and destination locations, time of request, duration of the ride, and fare details.
- Communications: When you communicate with us, such as through customer support, surveys, or promotions, we collect the content of your communications and any information you choose to provide.
- User Content: If you submit reviews, ratings, feedback, or other content through the App, we collect this information.
1.2 Information We Collect Automatically Through Your Use of the Service
When you use our Service, we automatically collect certain information about your device and your activity. This includes:
- Location Information: We collect precise or approximate location data from your mobile device when the Shaxi App is running in the foreground or background. This information is essential for connecting riders with drivers, facilitating pickups, and optimizing routes. The collection of geolocation data stops after closing the Shaxi app.
- Device Information: We collect information about your mobile device, including the hardware model, operating system and version, software and file names and versions, preferred language, unique device identifier, advertising identifiers, serial number, device motion information, and mobile network information.
- Usage Information: We collect information about how you interact with our Service, such as the features you use, the pages you view, the dates and times of your visits, and your interactions with other users.
- Log Data: Our servers automatically record information that your browser sends whenever you visit a website. This log data may include your Internet Protocol (“IP”) address, browser type and settings, the date and time of your request, and how you interacted with the Service.
- Transaction Information: We collect transaction details related to your use of our Service, including the type of service requested or provided, date and time the service was provided, amount charged, and payment method.
1.3 Information We Collect from Other Sources
We may also receive information from other sources and combine that with information we collect through our Service. For example:
- Third-Party Services: If you link, connect, or log in to your Shaxi account with a third-party service (e.g., social media platforms), we may receive information from that service.
- Background Check Providers: For drivers, we may receive information from background check providers to verify your identity and eligibility to provide services.
- Insurance Providers: We may receive information from insurance providers related to incidents or claims.
- Publicly Available Sources: We may collect information from publicly available sources as permitted by law.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect for various purposes, including to:
- Provide and Maintain the Service: This includes connecting riders with drivers,
facilitating ride requests, processing payments, and providing customer support. - Improve and Develop the Service: We use data to understand user behavior, analyze trends, and develop new features and services. This includes optimizing routes, improving app functionality, and personalizing user experience.
- Safety and Security: We use information to ensure the safety and security of our users and the Service. This includes verifying identities, preventing fraud, and responding to safety incidents.
- Communication: We use your contact details to send you important updates about the Service, promotional messages (if you have opted in), and respond to your inquiries.
- Legal and Compliance: We use information to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our Terms of Service.
- Research and Analytics: We may use aggregated and anonymized data for research and analytical purposes to improve our services and develop new offerings.
3. How We Share Your Information
We may share your information with third parties in the following circumstances:
- With Drivers and Riders: To facilitate ride-hailing services, we share relevant information between riders and drivers. For example, a rider’s pickup location and name are shared with the driver, and a driver’s name, vehicle information, and location are shared with the rider. After the ride, the rider’s name remains anonymous to the driver, and feedback provided by the rider about the service quality is anonymous.
- With Service Providers: We work with third-party service providers who perform services on our behalf, such as payment processing, data storage, analytics, marketing, and customer support. These providers have access to your information only to perform these tasks on our behalf and are obligated not to disclose or use it for any other purpose.
- For Legal Reasons: We may disclose your information if required to do so by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities (e.g., a court order or government agency request).
- Business Transfers: In connection with, or during negotiations of, any merger, sale of company assets, consolidation or restructuring, financing, or acquisition of all or a portion of our business by or into another company.
- With Your Consent: We may share your information with third parties when we have your explicit consent to do so.
- Aggregated and Anonymized Data: We may share aggregated and anonymized information that cannot reasonably be used to identify you. This data is often used for research, analysis, and marketing purposes.
4. Data Security and Retention
We implement reasonable security measures to protect your information from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction. This includes technical, administrative, and physical safeguards. Any personal data collected in the course of providing the services is transferred to and stored in our secure data centers. Only authorized employees of Shaxi Mobility and partners have access to the personal data, and they can access the data only for the purpose of resolving issues associated with the services.
We retain your personal information for as long as necessary to provide the Service, comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. If you would like to delete the personal data collected through the Shaxi app, please submit a written request to our customer support through info@shaxigh.com.
5. Your Choices and Rights
You have certain choices and rights regarding your information:
- Access and Correction: You may review and update your account information at any time by logging into your account settings within the App.
- Data Deletion: You can request the deletion of your personal data by contacting us at info@shaxigh.com. Please note that we may retain certain information as required by law or for legitimate business purposes.
- Marketing Communications: If you no longer wish to receive direct marketing messages, please click the “Unsubscribe” link in the footer of our e-mail or in the profile section of the Shaxi app.
- Location Information: You can enable or disable location services for the Shaxi App at any time through your device settings. However, disabling location services may affect the functionality of the App.
6. International Data Transfers
Your information may be transferred to, and maintained on, computers located outside of your state, province, country, or other governmental jurisdiction where the data protection laws may differ from those of your jurisdiction. If you are located outside Ghana and choose to provide information to us, please note that we transfer the data, including Personal Data, to Ghana and process it there. Your consent to this Privacy Policy followed by your submission of such information represents your agreement to that transfer.
7. Children's Privacy
Our Service is not intended for use by individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18. If we become aware that a child under 18 has provided us with personal information, we will take steps to delete such information from our files.
8. Amendments to This Privacy Policy
Shaxi Mobility reserves the right to amend this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes to this Privacy Policy by posting the updated Privacy Policy on our website or through the Shaxi app. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
